Oz to Oslo
Whilst hitchhiking around Europe in 1982 I had the opportunity to sail a traditional Norwegian wooden boat called a Fembøring along the west coast of Norway as well as Colin Archers RS5 “Liv” and Oslo Sjøfartsmuseum “Svanen”.
The experience never left me and some years later I decided to rebuild my own boat “Christina” and sail from Sydney to Oslo with the hope that I could eventually work with sail boats in Norway.
Whilst rebuilding “Christina” I found I had a special interest in the rigging of sailboats. During the 5 years between Sydney and Oslo I worked rigging yachts in many different countries and within 3 days of achieving the dream started work on rigging “Jomfruen”.
Southern Cross Spars is the result of a love of sailing and a responsible attitude towards the rig on sailing boats. We are the only specialised sail boat rigging facility in Norway and we cater for both cruising and racing boats alike.
