Rig Service
Southern Cross Spars can offer you a complete rig service program, just like with your car we will check and service your rig at regular intervals to ensure optimal performance and safety. Right from when you receive delivery of your new yacht we can check and trim the rig for total peace of mind.
If you have just taken delivery of a used yacht then we start the service program with a full rig check to assess where in the schedule your rig should be entered.
The services are carried out as per the schedule listed below. All inspections are documented and the service report follows the yacht enhancing the resale value.
Southern Cross Spars rig service program
1st Service
Initial inspection and re-tune after the yacht is delivered or within six months.
- This is a visual check of the rig and fittings while the mast is on the boat
- A re-tune of the rig as required for optimum performance
- Update and receipt of the ‘Rig service record’
Annual Service
Every 12 months from delivery.
- This involves a full rig check while the mast is in the yacht, with a documented report on the findings
- Lubrication of all fittings as necessary
- A re-tune of the rig including lubricating the rigging screws
- Entry into the ‘Rig service record’
4 Year Service
Carried out every four years after the initial mast stepping.
- This Service involves removing the rig from the yacht
- Removal of running and standing rigging for inspection
- Inspection of mast fittings and rod or wire terminations
- Removal of spreaders and checking of mounting brackets
- Mast foot condition
- All blocks, winches and deck hardware, service and lubrication
- Refit mast and re-tune rig, lubricating rigging screws
- Entry into the ‘Rig service record’
12 Year Service
To be carried out after 12 years after the initial mast stepping.
After 12 years we remove the rig and replace all the standing rigging- Replace the rigging screws if required
- Check the mast and fittings for corrosion and wear
- Remove spreaders and replace if worn or damaged
- Check spreader mounting brackets
- Inspect mast foot and head
- All blocks, winches and deck hardware, service and lubrication
- Refit mast and re-tune rig lubricating rigging screws
- Entry into the ‘Rig service record’
